Weekly Finish...Or Not: Weed Whacker in Blue

I haven't decided if I'm finished with my blue Weed Whacker quilt top or not, and whether or not I'll add borders.

Quilt by Marti Rajotte

I was inspired by this quilt I saw on Bonnie Hunter's FB group and loved the pinwheel rows.  The pinwheels are made from bonus HSTs leftover from the strip blocks.

My original plan was to include the pinwheels as rows just like Marti's quilt.  However, my quilt top has 12 blocks and I thought adding the pinwheel rows would make the top look too long and narrow.  So I opted to use the pinwheels as a border and then be done with it.  But I like the dark blue pieced border in Marti's quilt and am thinking I may do the same for my top.  We'll see what happens :)

  1. This is so pretty! I think it's perfect as is. You could use the dark blue for the binding. Hurray for a happy finish!

  3. Whether you add borders or not, this quilt is a stunner! I like the way the pinwheel border kind of softens the edges of the quilt without drawing attention to itself too much. Gorgeous!
