Weekly Finish #5-#6: Chains of Love & Simple Hearts 2021

Image
Not one, but TWO weekly finishes!  The first one is Chains of Love , a free pattern by Jedi Craft Girl .  I started this quilt way back in February and posted about it here . I used red and pink fabrics from my stash and am so happy with how it turned out. I finished quilting it this past Monday using an overall hearts and loops design.  This is a quick and easy design that I've used on all my heart quilts. The back is a pretty pink floral design with a light lilac background, and I used an Heirloom cotton batting.  The quilt is the size of a wall hanging, measuring 48" square, and has a hanging sleeve. My second finish is another heart quilt that I also started in February and recently posted about it here . I didn't use the traditional red hearts for this Valentine quilt and am really happy with the fabrics I used. I quilted it with the same overall hearts and loops design and used a polyester batting.  The backing is from my stash and has a pretty floral print.  It'

WIP Work In Progress: A Very Coriander Christmas - Blocks 10-11

Finally finished blocks 10 and 11 from A Very Coriander Christmas BOM and that means I'm all caught up.  Yea!  Next month I'll be getting the 12th and final block kit which also includes the fabrics to finish the top plus binding.   Old Time Christmas Patchwork BOM Since A Very Coriander Christmas BOM is coming to an end, I need another BOM to take its place.  Of course!  When I saw this Old Time Christmas Patchwork BOM at Shabby Fabrics , I quickly reserved my spot.  The program starts in October and I'm really excited to start working on these blocks. Design Wall Monday: Simple Hearts & Rolling Rainbow

Image
I made these heart blocks way back in February using the Simple Hearts free pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew after seeing this quilt by Sharon Holland which she made last year when she hosted  a  heart quilt along  using this pattern. I fell in love with the fabric she used, which is the Foresta Fusion collection by Art Gallery Fabrics.   I wanted to make something similar using fabrics from my stash and ended up with these 16 heart blocks.  Once I made the blocks, I put them on the back burner to focus on our landscaping project -- and then completely forgot about them. Now, five months later, I remembered I had these blocks and wanted to finish the quilt - except I couldn't find them.  I looked here and there but could not remember where I put them, then voila!  There they were, sitting on my fabric shelf, nicely wrapped in the backing fabric.  Yea! The top is now put together and waiting to be quilted. I still would like to use the Foresta Fusion collection to make a larger heart qui

WIP Work In Progress: A Very Coriander Christmas - Blocks 7-9

Image
These BOM kits kept coming and before I knew it I had 5 kits that needed my attention. Blocks 7-8-9 So over the past few days, I made 3 more blocks. Original Block 8 My Block 8 I'm a little disappointed with the fabric cuts I received for Block 8.  I prefer the red fabric in the original block instead of the busy print I received in my kit.

WIP Work in Progress: Stash Buster Challenge 2021 - Red Blocks

Image
2021 Stash Buster Challenge   I figured since I am on a roll that I would just keep going with making my first two Stash Buster Challenge blocks. The challenge is to make at least one block a week so by the end of the year you'll have enough blocks to make a quilt.  Anyone who finishes at least 52 blocks will have their name entered into a drawing for " an amazing gift" from Border Creek Station.

RSC2021 April is Blue

Image
Well, I'm on a roll now ... a Roll -ing Rainbow quilt that is!  I made six more blocks in blue which was the RSC color for the month of April.  This makes a total of 17 finished blocks with only 8 more to go.  Red is the color of the month for May but this quilt has no red.  So instead I'll my Stash Buster Challenge quilt by making some red blocks. Purple is the color for June and July is blue again.  I hope I can catch up by the end of the month. Linking up to  RSC21  @ soscrappy.  Be sure to visit for more blue goodness. A Quilting Distraction: Landscaping Project

Image
July 2020 July 2020 Owning a home is always a work in progress, and after almost 25 years in our home, the backyard definitely needed work.  Our home was brand new when we bought it and as such there was zero landscaping in the back.  We added the pool, the lattice patio, walkways, and block wall within the first year. We also added a lawn and some ground cover on the slope - minimal landscaping.

RSC2021 March is Green

Image
It's hard to believe that 2021 is more than half over and that it's been months since my last post.   I took some time off from quilting and blogging to work on a total makeover of our front and back yards.  And, now I'm trying to catch up on my 2021 quilting goals. So here we are in July and I finally finished my RSC21 blocks for March, which is green ... three more blocks for my Rolling Rainbow quilt.  These blocks finish at 16.5" so these were fast and easy.
