Northwind Block 2023 Stash Buster Quilt #333 Size: 80" square Started 2/22/23 - Finished 12/14/23 I previously posted about this top here .  The annual challenge by Border Creek Station starts January 1, which is to make 1 block a week.  At the end of the year, you will have enough blocks to make a large quilt. I didn't start making the blocks until February and thought I'd make just enough blocks to "catch up".  But once I started, I couldn't stop, and by March I had made 64 blocks - enough to meet the challenge. I used an 8 x 8 layout, and each block is 9" finished.  I used some really old and ugly fabrics, and I wasn't sure I would like the quilt.  But now that it's quilted and completed, I love it! I quilted it with a dark brown thread and an E2E design called Curls and Pearls.  I wish I had used a lighter brown, but I used what I had on hand.  The backing is a cotton sheet, and the batting is Warm & Natural.   And a label completes the q...

Dandy Star Stash Buster Quilt #325 Size:  62" x 70" Started 10/12/22 - Finished 8/31/23 Pattern is Dandy Star block for the Stash Buster Challenge 2021 by  Border Creek Station .   I finished this top last year and previously posted about it here .  At that time, I was unhappy with it and put it on the back burner, but a month later, I finished it with an inner border and an outer pieced border.  The borders make a big difference, and I like it much better. There are 42 blocks, and each block is 9" finished.  The inner border is 2", and the pieced border is 6". I used the "Damask" E2E quilt design. The backing is a pretty green leaf cotton-blend sheet, and the batting is Warm & Natural. Square Dance Stash Buster Quilt #260 Size: 56" x 64" Started 11/27/20 - Finished 12/16/20 Although I think the colors are pretty, the blue-and-yellow combo is not my favorite. So when I joined the 2020 Stash Buster Challenge, I decided to use up any yellow-blue floral fabrics that have been around forever. I think the floral fabrics are pretty by themselves, but they just didn't rock my socks. So another yellow-and-blue quilt made its way to my project list. Having said all that, I love the end result of this quilt.  I wasn't sure about it when I started, but I'm very happy with it now.  This quilt was so much fun to make.  I can see why some folks made more than one quilt for the challenge. I used a cotton-blend sheet with a pretty floral print as the backing.  I would have preferred to use a "darker" backing to go with the front, but I went with what I had on hand.
