Quilty Finish #8-#9: Comfort Quilts For Kids

Image
Two more quilts were completed from this stack of flimsy tops , and are now ready for donation. Rail Fence Quilt #235 Basket Weave Quilt #236 The patterns for both quilts (and some of the other tops from the stack) are by Ursula Reikes.  I love her series of Quilts for Baby  books. This makes 9 quilts that I've finished from the stack, which means I have 2 more left to complete.  But I actually have 4 UFO tops because my DD added two tops she made.  With the holidays upon us, I think these will have to wait until next year. Happy quilting and happy holidays!  Remember, the best things in life are quilted.

Quilty Finish: #5-#6-#7 Comfort Quilts For Kids

I previously posted about a stack of quilt tops that have been patiently waiting to be finished since 2009!  A few months ago, I started quilting the tops but didn't get around to binding them.  Last month, however, I finished four to give as gifts. These 3 tops were also quilted, and they, too, are now bound.  Three more quilts for the finish! It's A Snap Quilt #232 Warm Wishes Quilt #233 Blue and Yellow Lattice Quilt #234 I bought this top on eBay, so I don't know the name of the pattern. I still have four more flimsy tops to quilt and bind.  I hope I can finish them by the end of the year. Remember, the best things in life are quilted!

Isaiah and His H-Block Quilt #229 Israel and His H-Block Quilt #230 Nathan and His Warm Wishes Quilt #231 After so many years away from quilting, I’m now on a roll with three more finishes!  That stack of unfinished tops came to the rescue one more time, in a big way. These three little guys are my BFF Vivian’s grandsons.  The two are fraternal twins, and the one is a year older, but all celebrate their birthdays in October.  Another last-minute invitation prompted me to grab 3 of the tops, which made it possible for me to finish the 3 quilts in time for their party earlier this afternoon. (Sorry for the poor picture quality. I took the quilt pictures with my phone in the store parking lot.  It was a windy day, and the only spot I could find with less wind was by the truck door near a tree.  I wish I'd remembered to take pictures while still at home.) The two quilts are from Ursula Reikes' book “Even More Quilts for Baby” and are the H-Block patter...

Quilty Finish #1: Crackers Baby Quilt

Crackers Baby Quilt #228 I can’t believe the quilt pictured above is the first quilt I have finished since 2010.  It is one of the quilt tops I mentioned in my  previous post  and is the second one in the stack.  I must confess that I did not make the quilt top, but bought it on eBay, intending to finish and donate it to charity. The block pattern is a vintage design named Crackers.  And, if you are interested in making your own, just click on the picture for a free tutorial from Cut to Pieces . I suppose it’s a good thing I never got around to finishing any of these tops, which are destined for charity, because I would not have been able to create a last-minute special gift for my friend’s granddaughter, who was baptized last week.   Luckily, I'd already started quilting the stack of tops, and I chose this one for Ariana.  I finished binding and labeling the quilt that Saturday morning.  As you can see, she was one happy little girl!...
