WIP Work in Progress: Charity Baby Quilts

Image
I've been busy making these six baby quilts for Project Linus.  These are tops only and it'll be a while before I get to finish them.  But I'm happy with my progress so far.

WIP Work In Progress: Warm Wishes Charity Quilts

I love the Warm Wishes pattern for making charity quilts for kids.  This center panel is currently on my design wall and it's made with a print of planets and constellations. I usually finish these Warm Wishes quilts with no border and just binding.  But  I think this one will be perfect for an older child, so  I plan to add an inner border and an outer border with the same printed fabric to make it larger.

WIP Work In Progress: More Quilts for Kids

This is another flimsy that has been around for a few years. DD made this top for one of her daughters and brought it over to me 5 years ago.  Well, we put it away thinking we'd get to it sooner or later, and here it is WAY later! Finally got it quilted and I should have it completed by Friday. And this is the last of the 3 kits for   Downy Touch of Comfort Quilts for Kids  that I posted about here .  Back in February -- before the pandemic really hit -- I spent a couple of weekends with my niece Lisa and helped her make her first quilt .  She was so excited to finish it and I figured this baby quilt kit would be perfect for her next project.  I was supposed to return to help her but our quilting-together time was put on hold by the pandemic. So I drove to her house and retrieved the kit.  (Y es, we kept our s...

WIP: Quilts For Kids … Touch of Comfort

Image
A couple days ago I posted about the kit I received from Quilts For Kids .  Since everything was already pre-cut, there was nothing to it but to sew it.  The top was so fast and easy … took only a few hours to complete.  Aren’t the whimsical frogs so cute?  And I really like how the black and white striped inner border adds a little pizzazz to the design. By the way, the backing IS included in the kit so all that’s left is the quilting and binding.  It should be finished within the next couple of days. Request your Touch of Comfort quilt kit here .

Quilts For Kids … Kit Arrived!

Image
Look what came in the mail today … a quilt kit from Quilts for Kids , a non-profit organization that provides comfort quilts for hospitalized children.  They recently partnered with P&G’s Downy brand, and Quilts for Kids receives 5 cents for every purchase of specially marked Downy. The program is called the Downy Touch of Comfort . The kit provides all the fabric for the top and backing, although you do need to provide the batting.   The fabric is also precut into squares and strips.  It even includes a nice woven label.  How cool is that!  And, once completed, you’ll need to provide postage to return the quilt.  The quilts will then be distributed to seriously ill children all over the country.  The March issue of The Quilter Magazine features an article explaining the importance of the Downy Touch of Comfort Program to seriously ill children all over the country.  This program has enabled Quilts for Kids to create over 10...
