Frolic Mystery Quilt #255 Size: 82" square Started 1/13/20 - Finished 11/4/20 I've worked on this Bonnie Hunter Frolic Mystery quilt since January and was really pushing to get it finished before Bonnie's 2020 mystery quilt was released.   I am so happy to report that Frolic is finally complete! I believe this is Bonnie's 17th mystery quilt, and her first one was in 2007. I always thought her mystery quilts were so beautiful, but they looked complicated.  Plus, the "mystery" aspect of the pattern was intimidating.  In addition to all that, the pattern is released during the busy holiday season, and I just didn't have the time to make one.   But last year, I decided to jump on the bandwagon.   I waited until January to start and was trying hard to catch up with the clues before the big reveal.  I was a couple of clues behind when Bonnie revealed the final quilt, and I fell in love.  I was so motivated that I quickly finished the center, ...

  I started working on the second quilt top that DD made a few years ago. I posted about the first one here . Unfortunately, right before I finished quilting it, as I got to the bottom border, my Mega Quilter konked out.  The needle and bobbin case aren't playing nice and the needle breaks off. Now I have to take it in for repair which may take 3-4 weeks.  Ugh!  I'll finish quilting this one on my regular sewing machine but my larger tops are on hold for now. This is the fall wall hanging for DGD#1 that I started last week, and I posted about it  here .  I'd hoped to get it completely finished over the weekend but that didn't happen.  At least I was able to get the borders on so maybe I'll get it quilted over this weekend - on my regular sewing machine😊. I've been working on this Dr. Seuss quilt for the past few days.  As I was trying to figure out the layout, I discovered that I actually did not have enough sashing strips and cornerstones.   I kept miscalculating the number of strips I needed, so  I had to dig into my limited dark blue stash several times, so t he sashing strips are scrappy.  But I finally figured it out! The top has 42 blocks in a 6 x 7 layout.  Now all I need to do is sew it all together.  I decided not to add a border and will bind it in the same "Sam I Am" red fabric in the Sawtooth stars.  Can't wait to get it finished! And, earlier today, I added the inner border to my Frolic Mystery quilt top. Not a lot of progress, but little by little, I'll get it finished. Until next time, happy quilting!

I spent the past weekend sewing all the sashings and rows on my Frolic Mystery Quilt top, and here it is!  I love it!  I'll do the inner border and then I'll take a break before I tackle the outer border. I am so glad I decided to join this time and regret not having joined in previous years.  Luckily, all the mystery quilts are available on Bonnie's Quiltville website  for purchase. Apparently, I had a change of heart because last October, when I was organizing my quilting room, I stumbled upon 2 kits from Quilts for Kids.  They had been stored away and forgotten.  One of them even had a packing slip from 2013! Happy New Year!  It’s hard to believe that 20 years have come and gone since we celebrated the Millennium!   I started quilting in 1999, so I am also celebrating 20 years of quilting.  And, I am looking forward to and am excited about a more productive decade!  Having said that, I decided my first quilt of the decade will be Bonnie Hunter's Frolic Mystery Quilt .  This is Bonnie's 15th online mystery, and my first ever mystery. The introduction and first clues were posted last year in October/November, but I was busy with the quilts for my DGD#1 and her friend, so I couldn't start until this month.
