Weekly Finish #22: Moment of Zen

Moment of Zen with Cider

Finished size: 85" x 85"

This is an original design by Jo's Country Junction which I saw last year in a blog post.

The pattern was published in the August/September 2020 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting and I knew I had that issue.

I also knew it'd be perfect for my niece Sandra and ordered a bundle of fat quarters of the Cider fabric with the intention of giving her the quilt for her birthday this year in February.  Well, time flew by and I missed her birthday deadline.

But I was determined to make this quilt for her and started it the first week of May and finally finished it last week.  I will be seeing her in a couple of weeks and I'm sure she'll be surprised when I give it to her.

I quilted it with the Curls Too design installed in my Moxie and used Warm & Natural batting.

I LOVE how this quilt turned out and am tempted to keep it .... IJK!  I'm seriously thinking of making one for myself but it would have to be with a different fabric as the Cider line by Basic Grey is now very hard to find.

UPDATE I gifted this quilt to my darling niece on August 7 to celebrate her birthday in April.  She LOVED it!

  6. Beautiful! Orange and blue are my favorite complementary color pair, and they look lovely in this quilt alongside the greenish browns and yellows! (BTW: I tend to fall in love with lines after they've been out for a while. It's hard to find designs from Cider, but Sew Lux Fabrics has some yardage left. Just sayin'!)
