Weekly Finish #6: Yellow Brick Road Pirates Quilt

Image
Yellow Brick Road Pirates Quilt   Finished Size: 65" x 92" I made this quilt for my darling granddaughter Kaite.  This one has been "in the works" since she graduated high school in 2018.  She lived with me for 4 years, during her high school years, and I have many fond memories of our time together. She attended a performing arts high school where she continued studying the violin and piano.  They are called the Pirates; and red and black are the school colors.  So  I started collecting fabrics with a pirate and musical theme.   She moved out of state in 2019 and this project was put on the back burner.  But when she told me she was coming for a visit, I took it out of UFO status.  Yea!! I quilted it on my Moxie with an E2E design pre-installed in the Pro-Stitcher Lite. I love all the different pirate and musical prints, many of which are Pirate Tales by Riley Blake. I've made several quilts using the Yellow Brick Road pattern by Atkins...

Weekly Finish #5: Red Cross Quilt RSC 2022

Image
RSC 2022 Red Cross Quilt Finished Size: 63" x 77" I finished the quilt top last year and posted about it here . I made it as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2022 . I was inspired to use this Red Cross block and design when I saw this quilt by The Academic Quilter who also provided a free block tutorial .  Each block measures 10" finished and was very easy to make.  There are 32 blocks and are set on point. I used an E2E design titled Milkyway Swirls by Quiltable.com The quilt is made entirely from my stash including the border and the backing is a cotton sheet.  And the label confirms the finish! Weekly Finish...or Not: In Full Bloom & Villa Rosa Zipper Tops

Image
I made this lap-size quilt using Red Rooster's In Full Bloom fabric and their free PDF pattern .  I had a small bundle from the collection but had to include fabric from my collection. I saw this in a quilt magazine and I just wanted to make it.  I couldn't find the dark floral border and used the light border fabric instead.  I don't care for it as much so it'll be a donation quilt.  For now, it's going into the "to be quilted" pile. I made this second top from a kit I purchased online from Villa Rosa Designs.  The designer highlighted (promoted) it during a Live Sales video and I really liked it.  But I'm not so sure now.  Hmmm, maybe once I quilt it?  Most likely another one to be donated. These tops are the 11th and 12th ones I've made so far in 2023. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish...Or Not: Quilters Stand for Ukraine Top

Image
I made this quilt top from Pat Sloan's Quilters Stand for Ukraine pattern. And,  I previously made two small wall hangings with one block and posted about each  here  and  here .      Each block measures 18" and the top has 12 blocks.  The center star is made from fabric with a sunflower print, the sunflower being the national flower of Ukraine.  I'm not sure if I will add a border, but for now, it's in my "to be quilted" pile. It is the 9th top I've made so far in 2023. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing.
