Weekly Finish...Or Not: Patchwork Jack Pumpkin Top

Image
Last year, DH and I went on the Southern California Quilter's Run.  H e enjoys it as much as I do and I appreciate that he does all the driving.   It had been a few years since our last run, and  we were a little disappointed  there weren't as many participating quilt shops this time.   One of the shops showcased this quilt, and it really caught my attention.  I bought just the pattern as I have plenty of Halloween fabric. The pattern is Patchwork Jack by Pieced Just Sew. The pattern was very easy to make with squares and a few half-square triangles. I was hoping to complete it by this Halloween but that didn't happen.  There's always next year so for now it's going to the "to be quilted" pile. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish #17: Chihowie Mystery Quilt 2023

Chilhowie Mystery Quilt Finished Size:  77" square This is my fifth Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, which I started in December 2022.  I actually kept up with the clues and  finished the top in January.  I previously posted about my Chilhowie top here . Now that the new mystery is around the corner,  I thought it was time to finish my Chilhowie mystery quilt  I'm not very good at picking color combinations especially when the design is a mystery so I keep Bonnie's colors the same.  This color combination was way out of my comfort zone but I love it. Most of the fabrics are from my stash but I did have to buy additional fabric as these are not colors I normally use.  This quilt is a bit smaller than the previous mystery quilts but it still had plenty of small pieces! I used an E2E Baptist Fan design for quilting and Warm & Natural for the batting. I found this funky abstract print and thought it was perfect for the backing.  I used a solid aqua print for the binding. And a

Weekly Finish ... Or Not: Quilts for Kids - 7 Tops Completed

Early in my quilting journey, I discovered Project Linus and got involved with my local chapter after reading about Project Linus in the newspaper. I decided to make quilts for kids a priority and made my first donation in 2001. I used 5-inch squares of novelty fabrics to make this set of 6 quilts.    I continued to donate quilts to PL until 2008 when I retired...50 quilts later.  With more flexibility with my time, I was able to focus more on family and other interests. I did make a few more tops for PL which were put in storage for 10 years until 2020 when I got back to my quilting.  Sadly, two years ago I discovered my local PL chapter no longer existed and the closest drop-off site was over 20 miles away.  I made the trip to deliver the 10 completed quilts from those old tops and then made a second trip last year to deliver 11 more quilts.  And that was it for me...until now. Earlier this year I found the Facebook page for Project Linus USA and saw there was a new chapter that co
