Weekly Finish #11 and #12: You Are My Sunshine and Quilters Stand for Ukraine

This is my finished "You Are My Sunshine" quilt for my granddaughter Katie.  I started it in March and posted about it here.

I quilted it on my Moxie with an E2E floral design.  I just love my Moxie with the Pro-Stitcher Lite but I still have a lot to learn.

I found the perfect backing with tons of sunflowers and cute little birds.

The quilt measures 56 x 71 and, of course, a quilt is not complete until it has a label😃.

Kaite and Her Quilt - April 2022

My granddaughter Katie came for a week-long visit last month, and I gave her the quilt the day before she was to fly back home to Kentucky.

Katie and Her Quilt - 2000

I've been making quilts for Katie since she was born.  This pink and blue rail fence quilt was the very first one I ever made.  This quilt was well-loved and somehow it survived the passage of time.  It found its way back to me where I am safely saving it for Katie someday.

I made this small 24" wallhanging with Pat Sloan's pattern that she designed as a fundraiser for Ukraine's children.

I originally made this small quilt to hang on my front door to show my support for Ukraine.  But I decided to make a lap quilt instead and gave the wall hanging to my niece who I know is as horrified as I am about what is happening in Ukraine.  I know she will hang it on her front door.

I was more than happy to make a donation to Unicef and am thrilled to know that as of this date Quilters Stand for Ukraine has raised almost $225,000 for the children of Ukraine.

Until next time ...
Be happy and keep on quilting!

  1. Katie's sunflower quilt is spectacular! I love everything about it. I bet she loves it. Neat story about her baby quilt. How neat you were able to make the Ukraine block into a lap quilt!
