Weekly Finish #23: Sisterhood RBG Quilt

Sisterhood RBG Quilt

I can't believe it's been more than a month since my last post.  Where did the month of July go?  Time flies when we're having fun!  And I certainly had a fun time making these beautiful sister blocks from Sew Preeti.

One day last month I was inspired to make this quilt for my sister, who turned 92 in February, as a belated birthday gift.  I'd already made a quilt for each of my two nieces, who also celebrated birthdays in February and
April.

RBG Block - not yet sewn

My sister is an attorney and has been a civil rights activist all her life, especially during the 1960s and 1970s.  So when I saw this block by Rebecca Grace Quilting honoring RBG, I knew I had to add it to my sister's quilt.

And on August 6, I visited my sister to gift her the quilt and to celebrate National Sister's Day.  She absolutely loved her quilt, and we spent a wonderful day with my nieces and their quilts.

My sister's quilt measures 55" x 73" and has Warm & Natural batting.  I quilted it with an E2E design named Rose Garden.

I had only 3 weeks to complete the quilt, and I was in such a hurry that I did not take any pictures until I gave the quilt to my sister.

Prior to my sister's quilt, I actually started another International Sister's quilt for myself.  That one is still a work in progress.

Be happy and keep on quilting!
