Quilty Finish #13-#14: Jelly Roll Sizzle and Villa Rosa Zipper Quilts

Jelly Roll Sizzle Quilt #327

I don't know why, but a few years ago, I bought 2 "wine" jelly rolls from Joann's.  The rolls were stored away and put on the back burner until this year, when I saw the free FQS Jelly Roll Sizzle pattern by Pat Sloan.  I previously posted a picture of the top here.

I wanted the pinwheels to stand out and considered red, but thought it would blend too much with the red strips, so I went with a dark green.  After completing the top, however, I regretted not going with the red or even black pinwheels.

The border fabric is from my stash.  I thought the green grapes would fit right in with the "wine" theme of the blocks.

I used the Field of Flowers E2E quilt design from PSL.  The backing is yardage from my stash, and the batting is pieced from leftover pieces of Warm & Natural.

Villa Rosa Zipper Quilt #328

Last year, I bought a kit from Villa Rosa Designs during one of the Fry-Day Happy Hour live sales on YouTube.


I love Villa Rosa Designs.  They are fast, easy, and look great.

I used the Wrenchworks E2E quilt design from PSL.  The backing is a cotton-blend sheet, and the batting is Warm & Natural.


UPDATE 9/11/23: Both quilts were donated to the Maui Fire victims via the Maui Quilt Shop.

    Beautiful donation quilts, they look very pretty. I love the green pinwheels, they look great with the fabrics. Red would have been nice too, but I love the green version ;))

These fold-and-turn coasters are SO easy and fun to make!  I first saw this pattern in 2002 at a guild meeting, and the instructions were handwritten.  There were no pictures … only hand drawings.  Well, we’ve come a long way in 8 years! I made this set of 4 coasters to include with the potholders I made for Amy’s Potholder Pass #2 . Quilty Finish #13: Halloween No Point Stars Quilt

Halloween No Point Stars Quilt #253  Size: 50" x 56" Started 9/18/20 - Finished 10/15/20 I previously posted about my Halloween No Point Stars top, and I am happy to say that I finally finished the quilt ... just in time for Halloween! I used a polyester snow blanket remnant for the batting.  Yes, a snow blanket that is used for Christmas villages.  This was not originally intentional.  I didn't want to use Warm & Natural as I was not going to use this as a "blanket" but rather as a display/decoration.  I wanted a lightweight batting, so I looked through my bin of batting remnants and found what I thought was just right. As I was basting the quilt, I noticed some glitter - not much - just a tiny bit on the "batting".  It finally dawned on me why it felt a little different!  How did this snow blanket get mixed in with my regular batting remnants?  Anyway, I was already halfway done, so I decided to go with it.
