  Over 20 years in the making, this Y2K Millennium Charm Quilt is finally finished! I should have finished it last year for the 20-year anniversary but I was still on a quilting hiatus. I know there are many of you who still remember swapping all those "squishies" full of charm squares.  I couldn't wait for the mail to open my package of fabric squares. Y2K Millennium Charm Flimsy Top - July 2010 I completed this top 10 years ago (see above picture), and this year I got the itch to finish it before the next decade was over.  I completed the quilt yesterday, and with today being the last day of 2020, I made it by the skin of my teeth LOL.  For me, this quilt celebrates the end of the 2nd millennium: 2,000 years. I was new to quilting in 1999 and had so much fun swapping charms that I received enough charms to make 3 quilts! Although I do think it's pretty, blue-and-yellow is not my favorite color combo. So when I joined the 2020 Stash Buster Challenge, I decided to use up any yellow-blue floral fabrics that have been around forever. I think the floral fabrics are pretty by themselves, but they just didn't rock my socks. So another yellow-and-blue quilt made its way to my project list. Having said all that, I love the end result of this quilt.  I wasn't sure about it when I started but I'm very happy with it now.  This quilt was so much fun to make.  I can see why some folks made more than one quilt for the challenge.  I do plan to make another sometime next year. I used a cotton blend sheet with a pretty floral print as the backing.  I would have preferred to use a "darker" backing to go with the front but I went with what I had on hand. Clue 4 of the Grassy Creek Mystery comes out on Friday.  Although I'm still working on Clue 3, I'll have the units finished up in time for Clue 4. I finished Clue 2 earlier this week and jumped on Clue 3 right away so I could catch up. And just for the record, here's my Clue 1, all done and sitting pretty. I know it's not a race and I'm not going to stress over whether I finish a clue before the next one comes out.  Last year, I didn't start the mystery until January and didn't finish the quilt until after the reveal.  But I'd like to keep up this time and it's not too difficult since the holidays will be rather quiet and low-key this year. I haven't started any new projects and am just finishing up a couple of UFOs, not including this Grassy Creek mystery and the Very Coriander Christmas BOM which won't be finished until next year.   I am so happy to finally finish this Single Wedding Ring (or Crown of Thorns if you prefer) quilt for my friend.  I'm really happy with it. I really love these floral fabrics which I've had in my stash for years, and  have been hoarding because they are so pretty to look at.  This is the third quilt I've made with these fabrics and all have been gifted.  I've used up quite a bit of this floral stash but I still have enough to make a quilt for myself.  Another project for 2021. 😃 The backing is a very pretty floral design which is actually a sheet I bought last year and saved for just the right project.  I think it's perfect. I quilted it with an E2E heart pantograph which I thought was appropriate for a wedding ring quilt.  And, I used lightweight polyester batting. The quilt measures 64" x 78" and is large enough for my friend and her hubby to snuggle under while watching TV.  I can't wait to see her and gift it to her. If you'd like to see mor

  I'm still working on my Stash Buster Challenge   quilt and have finished 60 blocks.  I'm happy I met the challenge requirement of 52 blocks to be entered in the drawing.  I never win anything but it was still fun.  I'm just going to add a solid border to finish the top to get it quilted and finished by end of the year. And I've started quilting my Single Wedding Ring for my friend.  It'll be my weekly Friday finish. The second clue for the Grassy Creek Mystery came out this past Friday and I quickly made 4 units ... and that's it so far.  I doubt I'll have all the Clue 2 units finished by this Friday when Clue 3 comes out.  The mystery just started and I'm already falling behind LOL!  As Bonnie says, it's not a race and I'm sure I'll catch up sooner or later.   This wedding ring quilt continues to be a work-in-progress which I posted about last week. I knew I wanted to do a pieced border on this top and thought I might do a ribbon or a twisted pole.  I wasn't sure so I went online for inspiration and finally decided to use leftover scraps from the blocks using HSTs. At first, I thought pinwheels would be great.  I love pinwheels but when I auditioned them, I thought they were too big and overwhelming. Then I thought I'd do a zigzag border similar to the one I did on my Frolic Mystery quilt. But, again, it just didn't work for me. I tried a few other border designs but they were all too much and seemed to detract from the main blocks. I then thought I'd try one row of HSTs instead of the two rows I'd been working with ... and, bingo!  The single row of HSTs is simple but complements the blocks and adds interest to the overall design. Now I'm off to make more HSTs.  I plan to finish the top this week and get it quilt

  This is the Bobby Dazzler Quilt kit, a UFO that I started in September and posted about here ,  here , and here .  I'm glad I was able to finish it before the end of the year. I think I really love everything about this quilt: the star blocks, the colors, the fabrics.  They're all so pretty. I quilted it with an E2E loopy heart design.  It's the same one I used for this quilt . The backing is a beautiful all-over design of pink roses which I thought was perfect for this quilt. And, yes, I fixed that mess on the back.  I took it off the frame and diligently picked the loose stitches out.  I was able to mark the heart design by following the stitching holes, then I did FMQ on my regular machine.  I'm glad it was only one row and not a big quilt. The batting is a lightweight poly-fil that I bought online from Joann's.  I bought two huge rolls of 45 yards.  It had pretty good reviews and was on sale so I took a chance.  I think it's great for wall hangings and chi
