Quilty Finish #6: Yellow Brick Road Pirates Quilt

Image
Yellow Brick Road Pirates Quilt #320  Size: 65" x 92" Started 3/14/23 - Finished 4/11/23 I made this quilt for my darling granddaughter Kaite.  This one has been "in the works" since she graduated high school in 2018.  She lived with me for 4 years, during her high school years, and I have many fond memories of our time together. She attended a performing arts high school where she continued to study the violin and piano.  They are called the Pirates; and red and black are the school colors.  So  I started collecting fabrics with a pirate and musical theme.   She moved out of state in 2019, and this project was put on the back burner.  When she told me she was coming for a visit, I took it out of UFO status.  Yea!! I quilted it on my Moxie with an E2E design pre-installed in the Pro-Stitcher Lite. I love all the different pirate and musical prints, many of which are Pirate Tales by Riley Blake. I've made several quilts using the Yellow B...

Quilty Finish #5: Red Cross RSC 2022 Quilt

Image
Red Cross RSC 2022 Quilt #319 Size: 63" x 77" Started 4/17/22 - Finished 3/31/23 I finished the quilt top last year and posted about it here . I made it as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2022 . I was inspired to use this Red Cross block and design when I saw this quilt by The Academic Quilter, who also provided a free block tutorial .  Each block measures 10" finished and was very easy to make.  There are 32 blocks, and they are set on point. I used an E2E design titled Milkyway Swirls by Quiltable.com The quilt is made entirely from my stash, including the border, and the backing is a cotton sheet.  And the label confirms the finish! Update 8/23/23 :  I gifted this to my granddaughter Emily. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish...or Not: In Full Bloom & Villa Rosa Zipper Tops

Image
I made this lap-size quilt using Red Rooster's In Full Bloom fabric and their free PDF pattern .  I had a small bundle from the collection but had to include fabric from my collection. I saw this in a quilt magazine and I just wanted to make it.  I couldn't find the dark floral border and used the light border fabric instead.  I don't care for it as much so it'll be a donation quilt.  For now, it's going into the "to be quilted" pile. I made this second top from a kit I purchased online from Villa Rosa Designs.  The designer highlighted (promoted) it during a Live Sales video and I really liked it.  But I'm not so sure now.  Hmmm, maybe once I quilt it?  Most likely another one to be donated. These tops are the 11th and 12th ones I've made so far in 2023. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish...Or Not: Quilters Stand for Ukraine Top

Image
I made this quilt top from Pat Sloan's Quilters Stand for Ukraine pattern. And,  I previously made two small wall hangings with one block and posted about each  here  and  here .      Each block measures 18" and the top has 12 blocks.  The center star is made from fabric with a sunflower print, the sunflower being the national flower of Ukraine.  I'm not sure if I will add a border, but for now, it's in my "to be quilted" pile. It is the 9th top I've made so far in 2023. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Quilty Finish #4: International Sisters Quilt #3

Image
International Sisters Quilt #318 Size: 60" x 76" Started 2/26/23 - Finished 3/31/23 This is the third International Sisters Quilt I've made using the sister blocks from  Sew Preeti .  Last year, I gifted one to my sister and posted about it here .  When a very dear friend of hers saw it, she fell in love with it.  On her friend's behalf, my sister asked if I would make one for her, and I accepted because I can never say no to my sister.  Her friend also agreed to reimburse the cost of materials. There is a very personal story behind this quilt.  It was made to honor the recipient's brother, who passed away in 1988, and I offered to include pictures of her brother and family.  I was happy to donate my time and labor to make this special quilt. And, of course, RBG is in the center of all these beautiful ladies.  The RBG block was specifically requested for this quilt because Justice Ginsburg fought hard for women's rights and sexual justice. I used ...

Quilty Finish #3: Rams NFL Team Quilt

Image
Rams NFL Team Quilt #317 Size: 74" x 98" Started 12/22/22 - Finished 3/18/23 I made this quilt for my daughter's January birthday.  She requested it after seeing the one I made for my son-in-law that I posted about here . The pattern is "1st and 10" from McCall's Quilting and is free.  Click  here  for a  pattern  to make this quilt.  It was so fast and easy to make! The quilting design is Touchdown, an E2E design from Urban Elementz.  The footballs, helmets, and stars are perfect. The backing is a mottled blue, which nicely shows off the quilting design.  And a label completes the quilt! My daughter lives in Kentucky, so I will have to ship it via UPS.  I wish I could hand-deliver it, but it's not in the stars for now. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Quilty Finish #1 and #2: Stack 'n' Whack & Stand for Ukraine Wall Hanging

Image
My first two quilt finishes of 2023. Quilters Stand for Ukraine Wall Hanging Quilt #315 Size: 24" square Started 4/4/22 - Finished 3/17/23 I made this second wall hanging from the  Quilters Stand for Ukraine pattern by Pat Sloan .  This is a single block, but the pattern also includes instructions to make a quilt. I have it displayed by my front door to show support for Ukraine. I made one last year and posted about it  here . Stack 'n' Whack Wall Hanging Quilt #316 Size: 62" square Started 4/18/22 - Finished 3/17/23 This first Stack 'n' Whack wall hanging has been a UFO since 2004, when I completed two similar wall hangings.  Apparently, I put the leftovers in a storage bag and put them on the back burner - way in the back LOL.  It had been going on 20 years, so I figured it was time to get 'er done! There were 2 completed blocks in the bag, plus several loose "wedges".  I didn't make a third quilt back then because the "wedges" we...
