Weekly Finish #40: Single Wedding Ring Quilt with Scallop Border

Image
Single Wedding Ring with Scallop Border Finished Size: 86" x 110" Here is the completed wedding quilt for Makenna that I posted about here . I love these floral fabrics which are mainly by Robyn Pandolph.  I still have enough in my stash to make myself a quilt.  The Single Wedding Ring block has 3" units and finishes at 15 inches.  This was my first time making a scallop border.  I watched a couple videos and ended up purchasing a specialty ruler from Quilt In A Day.  It definitely was worth the cost.   I also had to make bias binding - another first - for which I had to order more fabric.  Luckily, it arrived on Tuesday - just in time so I can finish the quilt before the end of the year.  I quilted it with E2E Folk Art heart design and used Warm & Natural batting. This is my 40th completed quilt project of 2022 and the last one for the year. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish #39: Raven Moon Stash Buster Quilt

Image
Raven Moon Stash Buster Quilt Finished Size:  77" x 91" I LOVE this Halloween quilt with its ravens, skulls, and spider webs. It is the second quilt  I made this quilt for the 2022 Stash Buster Challenge by Border Creek Station using the Jericho Walls block.  Each block finishes at 10" and this quilt has 44 blocks. I finished the top at the end of October and posted about it here .  But I wasn't able to complete the quilt in time for Halloween.  That's okay cuz it's ready for next year! The E2E web quilt design with the spider (so cute!) was pre-installed in the Pro-Stitcher LITE for the Moxie.   The pieced backing has an all-over sugar skulls design by Robert Kaufman, and the batting is Warm & Natural.  And the label completes the quilt. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Image
Foresta Fusion Simple Hearts Quilt   Finished Size: 52" x 60" This is another lap quilt completed for 2022.  I finished the top in February hoping I'd have the quilt completed by Valentine's Day but that sure didn't happen :) I posted about my progress here and here . I quilted it with Heart Triangles, an E2E design pre-installed in my Moxie. Each heart block is 6" and there are 49 blocks in a 7 x 7 setting. I used a floral backing and Warm & Natural batting. I love this quilt but will probably gift or donate it.  I plan to make another with 8-inch blocks which I plan to keep. UPDATE : Gifted this quilt to my cousin Gloria on January 6, 2023 St. Patty's Picture Frame Finished Size: 71" square Here's another top that I pieced in February and finally completed the quilt.  I was posted about my progress here . Weekly Finish #36: Whatnots Club Midnight Wall Hanging

Image
Whatnots Club Midnight Month 6 Tenth Simple Finished Size: 21" square Backing and Quilting Here's the little wall hanging that I pieced last month and posted about here .  It is from Kim Diehl's Simple Whatnots Club and is part of the 10th-anniversary edition. I'm not a big fan of miniature quilts but I love Kim Diehl's patterns and fabrics, and I really enjoyed making this one.  It only took a couple of days to piece and another day to quilt and bind.  Fast and easy. Sadly, all 8 kits of the 2022 Collection 11 are still sitting on a shelf waiting on me.  I'll have to try to squeeze a kit in between other projects in 2023. I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish #35: Raiders NFL Team Quilt

Image
Raiders NFL Team Quilt Finished Size: 75" x 98" I made this quilt on the spur of the moment for my son-in-law who has congenital heart disease and is on the heart transplant list.  He recently had open heart surgery for a heart pump (LVAD) and had to spend his birthday in the hospital.   I decided to make this quilt for his birthday and to comfort him. He's been a fan of the Raiders since they were the Oakland Raiders and I knew he would appreciate the quilt. The pattern is "1st and 10" from McCall's Quilting and is free.  Click here for a pattern to make this quilt.  It was so fast and easy to make - I completed it in 10 days.   The quilting design is Touchdown, an E2E design from Urban Elementz.  The footballs, helmets, and stars are perfect. The backing is a mottled gray which nicely shows off the quilting design. My daughter and son-in-law live in Kentucky, so I had to send it to him via UPS.  I was a little bit nervous but it arrived safe and sound.

WIP Wednesday: Green Weed Whacker

Image
This green Weed Whacker top is the same Bonnie Hunter pattern as the blue one I completed in August.  I love this pattern and have made more than a couple of quilts with it. This was an old UFO from many years ago, and since the green strips were already pieced, all I had to add was the neutral square to each strip set.  The border pinwheels are pieced from the bonus HSTs.  So the top was super fast and easy, taking only a week to complete. I'll complete the quilt one of these days so for now it's still a UFO.😀 I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing.  Design Wall Monday  @ Small Quilts and Doll Quilts Midweek Makers  @ Quiltfabrication.com Until next time ...  Be happy and keep on quilting!

Weekly Finish #34: Old Time Christmas Quilt

Image
Old Time Christmas Quilt Finished Size: 48" x 61" I finished the top in May and finally finished the quilt 3 weeks ago so it could be ready for Christmas.  It is from a block-of-the-month program from Shabby Fabrics that ran from October 2021 to March 2022.   I posted about my progress here and here .   I love, love, love this quilt.  The blocks are so beautiful and weren't as challenging to piece as they look.   But they were a little time-consuming so making just two every month worked great for me. I found the backing fabric from the same collection during a quilters' run in July on clearance at a 50% discount.  I should have done better with piecing the back but I'm okay with it. Here's a close-up of the backing.  I just love it! I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing. Weekly Finish #33: Jericho Walls Stash Buster Quilt

Image
Scrappy Stash Buster Challenge Finished Size: 76" x 90" I made this quilt for the  2022 Stash Buster Challenge  by Border Creek Station using the Jericho Walls block and   posted  about the quilt top  back in May when I finished it. I used some really old and "ugly" fabrics from my stash and had a fun time putting the blocks together. There are 32 blocks, and each block measures 10" finished. The quilting design is Trailing Leaves, an E2E design from the Pro-Stitcher Lite Design Catalog, and the batting is Warm & Natural. I used some charm packs for the piano border and each strip measured 2½" x 5" unfinished.  The inner border and binding are the same red fabric. I used a new full-size sheet I bought at a thrift store.  I don't really like it but I didn't want to use any of my fabric stash to piece the backing and I certainly didn't want to buy any more fabric.   And a label completes the quilt. I am really happy with the results.
